After travelling the East coast of Australia for 3 months the previous year, I had well and truly caught the travelling bug and was hooked. I came home and had just bought a property but all I could think about was going travelling again.
In the summer I learnt to surf in Cornwall and after working 50-60 hours a week, taking all the overtime I could get, I made the decision that I was going to travel the world and surf as much as I could. I sold my car, quit my job, and rented out my flat for 6 months determined on doing this.
Renting out the flat was no problem as I had recently bought it, selling my car and leaving behind friends and family was the hardest part. I booked flights to Capetown, checked visas and insurance, and bought a decent Osprey backpack and I was all set for my big adventure. Big wide world here I come. After farewell drinks with friends it was time to head to the airport and saying goodbye to my parents was hard. I hugged them goodbye said I love you and walked through security. Once I was through it dawned on me. I am all alone.
