Backpacking Bulgaria

Bulgaria is one of the larger countries in the Balkans and has borders with Romania to the north, Serbia and Macedonia to the southwest and Greece and Turkey to the south. Although it is not regularly visited compared to other European nations, it is a beautiful place, with a wide range of activities for a traveller to do.

My favourites in Bulgaria was the trip I made out to the Buzludzha communist monument near Veliko Tarnovo as well as the lovely free walking tour of Plovdiv. Browse through the city guides below and you will find my favourite hostels, places to eat and drink, sights to see and transport options.
